. Clairette was named after a now defunct brand of soap that was popular at the time. At its peak, Clairette had a population of around 300 however, from the 1960s through the 2000's Clairette's population remained around 60. Clairette declined do to the construction of nearby US Highway 281 and the improvement of State Highway 6 which allowed for easier commuting to larger nearby areas. through the 2000's Clairette maintained a Community Center (formerly the Clairette School), and 2 churches.
