post office. Millay encouraged Clara to pursue her dreams in poetry. Clara married residential housing contractor Joseph A. Loux at her family's residence in Albany, New York on 5 November 1938 and moved to Delmar, a suburb of Albany. In later life she was a real estate broker in Delmar. She died in 2000 and was buried in the Loux family plot in Graceland Cemetery, Albany, New York.
