The story is loosely based on the classic fairytale Cinderella
with some major changes, including changing the setting to a futuristic Asia
. This retelling is the first in a four book series entitled the Lunar Chronicles. The other books will encompass the inclusion of other fairytale heroines: Little Red Riding Hood
