living in New Beijing, a city within the plague-ridden kingdom in future Asia. She faces mysterious foes, a hateful stepmother, and a budding romance with a prince all to become the unlikely heroine for the entire Earth. Part of the lower class in society and working as nothing more than a mechanic, she digs through her unknown past to overcome her place. Cinder is "caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, [and she] must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future."
