Christopher 'Chris' Lumsdon (born 15 December 1979 in Newcastle upon Tyne
) is an English footballer who had to retire through a back injury in July 2010.. He played for Sunderland

In July 2010, Lumsdon retired from football at the age of 30 because of injury. He said: "Last year I was told that I would suffer in later life if I carried on. I couldn’t cough or sneeze without my back hurting." Lumsdon Came out of retirement in August 2010 when he signed for Bedlington terriers fc Lumsdon . He been forced to retire from the full time game due to a back injury but felt his body will be suited for the training and travel involved with the club, however, that was not the case and he has since been forced to retire from playing altogether. He is now nursing his back injury and training for his coaching badges.
He is also working for BBC Radio Cumbria as part of their Carlisle United commentary team.
