Economy

Chaibasa is district headquarter so that Government Institutions are the chief employers of chaibasa. Maximum ACC cement works Jhinkpani is just 18 km from Chaibasa and the main marketing place employees of ACC is Chaibasa. Some Mining and Steel Manufacturing Companies are situated in Chaibasa. S.R. Rungta Group is one of the biggest Mining & Steel Manufacturer. another are Thakur Prasad Sao & Sons, Saha Bros.

Entertainment

There are two cinema halls in Chaibasa one is Yashoda the other is JMP(Jain Movie Palace) . But the JMP cinema hall is no more in operation and only yashoda hall is availabel for entertainment. Outside both halls, a large variety of eateries can be found. Recently many new restaurants have been built in the city. Many can be found in Sadar Baazar. The weekly market can also be considered entertaining.

In the heart of Town there is a small lake with two small islands. Recent renovation makes them worth a visit.

Apart from the recent development of the Jubilee Lake (Kachari Talab), the city now has two parks, Saheed Park and Rungta Garden.

Transportation

The best connected place is Jamshedpur, which is 60 km away from Chaibasa. There are two trains running Jamshedpur which passes via Chaibasa.

2. Tata Barbil Passenger
One another train running from Howrah i.e. Howrah Barbil Jan-Satabdi Express passes via Chaibasa. Capital of Jharkhand , Ranchi is 145 km away from Chaibasa. The city does not have a public airport, but there are some helipad
