Chad Brandimore is a Canadian
professional ice hockey
player, currently without a club after being released by the Corner Brook Royals of the West Coast Senior Hockey League. Brandimore began his career playing for the Daytona Beach Breakers (the re-named Daytona Beach Sun Devils
) in the Southern Hockey League
. The Southern Hockey League was the short-lived re-naming of the Sunshine Hockey League
.
, then playing in the British National League
. A mid-season move would follow though, to the Dumfries Border Vikings, again of the BNL. The Border Vikings franchise was again short-lived, prompting Brandimore to move in the off-season to the Telford Tigers
. Brandimore would play well for the Tigers, scoring 37 points in 41 games. This would prompt a move to the Blackburn Hawks
for the 1998/99 season.
Brandimore scored 46 points in 15 games for the Hawks, playing their only season to date in the EPL
. Despite this, financial difficulties meant that Brandimore was released in December 1998. Brandimore would return to his native North America for the following season, signing for the Knoxville Speed
in the UHL. Another mid-season move would materialise though, and Brandimore would again cross the Atlantic
to sign for the Isle of Wight Raiders, again playing at EPL level. Brandimore's offensive skills were displayed to the full, and he scored 6 points in just 12 appearances.
This would prompt Odense IK of the Danish league to snap up Brandimore's signature in the off-season. Brandimore did not disappoint, and scored 25 points in 32 games. Despite this offensive output, he would again move during the season, this time to sign for the Romford Raiders
. Brandimore made few regular season appearances, but helped the Raiders into the post-season.
A return to North America would again ensue, with Brandimore signing for the Fort Worth Brahmas
of the Central Hockey League
. Brandimore would stay with the Brahmas for the full season, but injury problems meant he made just 7 league appearances for his new team. Despite this, his contract was renewed and Brandimore went on to feature in 14 games in the 2003/04 season for the Brahmas. Brandimore moved in December 2003 along with Brahmas team-mate Carl Greenhous
to sign for the Manchester Phoenix
of the EIHL.
It was the Phoenix' first season as an organisation following the collapse of the earlier Manchester franchise, the Manchester Storm
. Brandimore would play in 30 regular season games for the Phoenix, helping them into the post-season. The Phoenix would be dogged by financial troubles though, and these off-ice problems meant that the franchise was temporarily suspended in 2004.
The 2004/05 season was one which would prove to be even more chaotic for Brandimore than any he had played in before - in just one season, he would play for five different teams, making no more than 11 appearances for any of them. He initially moved to the Winston-Salem Polar Twins
, but soon after changed to play for the Asheville Aces
, SPHL
rivals of the Polar Twins. Poor attendances and financial difficulties meant that his contract was only short term, and Brandimore again moved, this time to the Jacksonville Barracudas
.
His stay in Florida would be no more successful, and Brandimore moved to the Saguenay Fjord. One further transfer would occur during the 2004/05 season, this time to the Wheeling Nailers
of the ECHL
. Brandimore would again make just 5 appearances before the end of the season. Brandimore would settle somewhat better for 2005/06, signing for the Dartmouth Destroyers
. Unfortunately, it would again last just one season as the Destroyers folded in the summer of 2006. Brandimore then moved to Canada, to sign for the Corner Brook Royals
. He would be re-signed in the summer and was registered as a Royals player for the 2007/08 season. After a long running dispute between himself and several other Royals players, as well as an argument with the managing team of Corner Brook, Brandimore was released from his contract in February 2008.
