 player. Borrego grew up playing netball in Jamaica, but gave up the sport to play women's basketball, first at Broward College in Fort Lauderdale before gaining a scholarship to the University of Miami

Borrego also made herself available for selection in the Jamaican national team for tours in 2010. But later that year, Borrego signalled her intention to become an Australian citizen, with the possibility of joining the Australian national team for the 2011 Netball World Championships

In 2011, in the fifth round against the Firebirds, Borrego played at the Goal Keeper position for the very first time. She played at that position again in round 11 against the Magic. After the ANZ Championship, Borrego was invited to the Diamond's selection camp as training partner, but is ineligible to be in the Diamonds squad. As a result, Borrego will not compete in the 2011 World Netball Championship as she aims to obtain Australian citizenship and be eligible to be in the Diamonds squad in the future.
