He married Sow Rukmini when he was 12 years old; they had three sons and three daughters. She died when he was 36 and at 38 he married Venkamma and through her he had three sons and a daughter.

Canchupati Venkatrao Vencasami Rao started Bhrukta Rahita Taraka Raja Yoga on 1910-05-29. He started classes in this new form of yoga in 1912, with Sri Satchidananda Saraswathi of Kanchi as his personal secretary. Among the followers of this new yogic path were Ekkirala Krishnamacharya
