Callistemon montanus, commonly known as the mountain bottlebrush, is an erect shrub which grows to around 2-4m high by 1-2m wide. It has squat red flowers of the bottlebrush type, 3-5cm long by 4-6cm wide, which appear in spring. There may also be sporadic flushes depending on the location and climate. Its bright green leaves are long and thin, 4-8cm long by 0.2-0.5cm wide. New leaf growth is pinkish in colour. It occurs naturally within the coastal ranges from central New South Wales
