However, population statistics only represent the village, not the surrounding neighborhoods, which include Aberdeen, Aberdeen Knoll and Inverness. With these communities added, Caledonia forms one of the wealthiest communities in Illinois.

History

Caledonia was originally called Caledonia Junction.
Caledonia was also the name of another town, located in southern Illinois, which was the first county seat of Pulaski County, Illinois from 1843 to 1861.

, which will position Caledonia to grow its tax base and benefit from increased revenue.

However, a proposed Wind Farm would have crept upon Caledonia's Village boundaries. The overwhelming majority of adjacent residents and property owners objected to the proposal , which would have benefitted only four property owners. The Boone County Zoning Board of Appeals ultimately denied approval of, and the Boone County Board rejected, the proposed Wind Farm. However, the prospect of a Wind Farm still lingers. Local residents and property owners created a group called the Boone County Alliance Against Intrusive Energy, which through the efforts of Spokesman Aaron M. Funfsinn has brought attention to the efforts of those who oppose the Wind Farm.
