CORDIS, the Community Research and Development Information Service, is an interactive information portal available at http://cordis.europa.eu to support European research and innovation cooperation.

Aims

CORDIS’s principal aims are:
  1. facilitate participation in the activities of European research, in particular FP7 (the Seventh Framework Programme)
  2. publish the results of projects funded by the EU
  3. promote the dissemination of knowledge in order to reinforce the innovation capacity of enterprises
  4. contribute to bridge the gap between citizens and science.

Services and activities

CORDIS offers access to a broad range of information and services on EU research, including:
  • The primary repository of EU-funded research projects and their results since 1990, including the formal deliverables collected by the European Commission
  • Daily news, events, funding opportunities and research showcases, provided by both the European Commission and by user contributions
  • An interactive environment to find research partners and to support discussion forums
  • Many thematic services, national contact points, a library of documents, user guidance and a range of search facilities, including custom email alerts and RSS feeds
  • Further databases and services to support EU research activities


The CORDIS website is available in six languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Polish), although much of the scientific content is only in English.

Organisation and legal basis

CORDIS is provided by the Publications Office of the European Union on behalf of the research Directorates-General of the European Commission

. It is financed by the Cooperation programme of the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7).

CORDIS was created in 1990 following a Communication of the Commission for the implementation of an RTD information service (SEC(1988)1831). It has been online since 1994.

The current legal basis of CORDIS is Decision No. 1982/2006/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Seventh Framework Programme.
