The station was launched in 1951 by Sunwapta Broadcasting as
CFRN-FM, simulcasting the AM programming of

. It launched separate programming in 1964, and adopted the callsign
CKXM in 1979. The station was subsequently sold to CAP Communications in 1988, and adopted the callsign
CJKE the following year.
The station was then acquired by

The station's on-air line up includes The Paul Brown Show in the morning, featuring Paul Brown, Yukon Jack and Gillian Foote. Lochlin Cross hosts the mid-day show, Scott McCord on the afternoon drive show, as well as Ryan G and Shawna Prince on at various times throughout evenings and weekends.
