. As of the 2000 census, the township population was 1,646.
, the township has a total area of 36.9 square miles (95.6 km²), of which, 36.6 square miles (94.8 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square mile (0.776996433 km²) of it (0.76%) is water.
The River Raisin
runs through the western part of the township, while the Saline River
has its headwaters in Joslin Lake in the northeast of the township.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.49% of the population.
There were 598 households out of which 35.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.4% were married couples
living together, 4.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.2% were non-families. 14.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.07.
In the township the population was spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 29.4% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 103.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.7 males.
