Biography

Brett Claywell is most recently known for his portrayal of young medical student “Kyle Lewis” on ABC’s long-running daytime series, One Life to Live. He earned critical acclaim and national recognition, as well as a GLAAD award, for his turn as one of daytime’s most talked about actors of 2010.

Brett began acting at a young age, starting his thespian career in the Children’s theater in his hometown of Greensboro, NC. He continued performing on the stage all the way up through college, where he studied theater at NC State while also earning a degree in Architecture. While at NC State he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta

 fraternity. Following his graduation, he followed his heart and moved to Wilmington, NC to pursue a life as an actor. After a few brief appearances on the WB’s Dawson’s Creek, Brett won a role in the pilot of the CW’s One Tree Hill. His comedic portrayal of the loveable dimwit “Tim Smith” instantly became a fan favorite, and remained so for all 3 seasons that he was mainstay on the show. He has also appeared in numerous episodes of the recent Joss Whedon scribed Dollhouse on FOX, where he starred along lead actress Eliza Dushku

While he still can be found in competitive soccer leagues in New York City and Los Angeles, he now finds more and more solace in his writing and his painting. While in NYC, he discovered a rejuvenated passion for photography, and finds himself happiest on his bike, pedaling between taxicabs and traffic with his camera slung over his shoulder, capturing everything from to the architectural details of the streets to the changing autumn leaves in Central Park and the foggy sunsets on the California coast.

Claywell has two older siblings: a brother, Christopher, and a sister, Traci.
