  • The sound that originates from Portuguese /ɐ̃w/ (written ão) is /ɐ̃/ rather than /õ/. For example, coraçã /koɾɐˈsɐ̃/, not coraçõ /koɾɐˈsõ/ “heart”; mã /ˈmɐ̃/, not mõ /ˈmõ/ “hand”; razã /ʀɐˈzɐ̃/, not razõ /ʀɐˈzõ/ “reason”.
