Fisher played both in the forward line and at half-forward. He was recognised as an excellent and safe one-grab overhead mark, perhaps the best at the club, and regularly took strong contested marks in forward packs. Throughout his career, however, his marking was let down by his kicking for goal, particularly due to the short range of his kicking, but also due to inaccuracy; he did improve in both of these areas through his career, but they remained weaknesses in his game. As a supporting forward, his personal best for goals in a game is four against Essendon in 2007, he remained a valuable part of the Blues' forward structure until 2008. In 2009, Fisher struggled for regular selection, playing only seven games for Carlton and spending the rest of the time at Carlton's , the Northern Bullants
