township was organized in 1827, the first township to be established in Oakland County. It almost completely surrounds the city of Bloomfield Hills
. Along with Bloomfield Village, Bloomfield Township is mistakenly referred to as Bloomfield Hills. In 2010, Bloomfield Township was ranked the tenth most expensive suburb in America, and the most expensive community in which to live in the state of Michigan.
