Bianyifang is the oldest Peking Duck

. The restaurant was established in 1416. A dispute among its owners in 1855 resulted in the branch extant today. In 1855, the Wang (王) family, one of the many minor owners of Bianyifang, decided to open another Bianyifang, and brought one of the employees with them, Mr. Liu (刘). Mr. Liu brought other employees from the original Bianyifang to the new branch, many of whom kept their share in the original restaurant. Eventually, both sides agreed to share the name and coexist peacefully. The restaurant has carried the Beijing cuisine
tradition from the Qing dynasty
to its modern day form. The old Bianyifang was located in Mishi Hutong at Caishikou. Its main competition has been the Quanjude
