In 1992 Bernardo finishes his graphic design studies at the Escuela de Comunicación Gráfica de Madrid (Spain) and he begins his work as graphic designer in several publicity agencies, mainly focus on the internet and multimedia branding communication.
As graphic designer he has created the web design for clients such as Coca Cola, British Telecom, Opel

In 2005 Bernardo Rivavelarde was selected by the acclaimed publisher Taschen

 as one of the best graphic designers in the world in the book entitled "Graphic Design for the 21st Century", and in 2008 his work was yet again selected by Taschen for their new book titled "Contemporary Graphic Design".
Together with Bernardo’s twin brother, Miguel Rivavelarde (also he is a graphic designer) they started their graphic communication studio in 2004, and working for such clients as CBRE Richard Ellis, BBV, Renault etc.

As a digital artist, Bernardo Rivavelarde presented in 1998 his first digital exhibition called Escuchando Imágenes (Listening to Images); an artistic proposal to bring together art and graphic design. Screening a selection of images, animations and interactive art works. With “Listening To Images”, Bernardo receives major Spanish awards in graphic and artistic designs, such as LAUS and MOBIUS award.
“Listening To Images” opening took place in the Valle Quintana Gallery in Madrid. And since his first exhibition, Bernardo has collaborated musically with the Spanish Electronic Music Duo The Lab

In 1999 “Listening to Images” was selected to be part of the exhibition called "Signs of the Century, 100 Years of Graphic Design in Spain" that premiere opening took place at the Reina Sofia Museum, Madrid, Spain.
The new millennium started with “Listening To Images” to be selected to be in the exhibition "Pasión, Spanish Design" in Berlin, Germany.

In 2003 Bernardo Rivavelarde created a new exhibition entitled Homodigitalis; a 30 minute animated movie in three parts, The Body, The Machine and The Future. Homodigitalis was projected onto a big screen (12x3 meters) at he opening in The National Library of Spain, Madrid, Spain. Homodigitalis has also been exhibited in many countries such as Italy, Mexico, and Germany. As in previous exhibition the music was created by The Lab

. The “Homodigitalis” movie was released onto DVD and its soundtrack on CD.

Currently Bernardo Rivavelarde is in the final stages of his latest creation, “Future Nature”, in which he shows a deeply personal view of a nature and humanity in the future. With the release of his upcoming exhibition, Rivavelarde is also going to publish a book that will contain all his award winning designs spanning his two decades long career.
