History

The first documented mention of Bempflingen was in 1090. From the early 14th century the settlement belonged to the Kaib family. Later the village passed through sale and inheritance to the Baron of Baustetten and the Baron of Mansberg. The Von Baustettens' part was acquired by Württemberg in 1448, and then the Von Mansbergs' part of the village in 1465. After the municipal reforms in the 19th century Bempfligen became part of Urach Township, and then part of the Nürtingen District after the township system was abolished. During the reordering of the districts in 1973 Bempflingen became part of the Esslingen district.

Annexations

The village of Kleinbettlingen was united with Bempfligen on January 1, 1972. The first documented mention of this village was in 1313 as "Clainbaettelingen."

Religion

Bempflingen has practiced Protestantism since the Reformation. There is also a small Roman Catholic parish in the village.
