Formation

The members of Beloved first met when former Miss Georgia Kim Hardee was asked to be a guest singer at Roswell Street Baptist church in Marietta, Georgia. In the next couple of weeks she started attending the church's Sunday school department and started meeting new people. Amy Goins just happened to be in that class as well. They quickly developed a friendship and started writing songs together. Those early songs would later find their way onto Kim's solo project Heavenly Intuition (2000). Along with writing songs together Amy begin to appear onstage with Kim singing backup during performances around the South. A couple of months into it Hardee asked Goins if she knew an alto. Denise Clark came to mind since Amy had sung with Clark in the choir at Roswell Street for years. The three got together and it just clicked.

Memphis To Nashville

Following God's call Kim and Amy moved to Memphis. With interest from Christian label Ardent Records the duo went back into the studio with local producer Kevin Paige (80's Solo Artist whose hit "Don't Shut Me Out" was a Top 40). "I Give My All" and "God Knows Where You Are" were birthed from those sessions. Those songs were the last to be added to the "Heavenly Intuition" project which was released in the fall of 2000. Kim got married in 2001 to then manager Travis Gravel. One night after a performance at the "Blue Bird Cafe" Kim decided she wanted to move back to Atlanta to be closer to home. Two thirds of the group packed up and moved back to Atlanta thinking this was the end. But in early 2003, shortly after being back in their home state, the two reconnected with Denise Clark and formed Beloved officially. The group naturally started work on a new project.

"Beloved"

In the summer of 2003 the group recorded their first self titled project with Nashville producer Kenny Royster at Direct Imaging Studios. The songs were cut in a day and vocals laid throughout the next couple of months. In 2004 the self-titled release Beloved was ready for release. The first single from the group still remains the fans favorite, "A Child Of The King". The group released their first song in the division of gospel music entitled Southern Gospel. The industry took to the girls right away. "A Child Of The King" became the biggest single in over two decades by a female group. The subsequent singles made steady progress up the charts. The third single "Sometimes" gave the group their first top 40 hit. After selling the album at performances exclusively, the group inked a deal with New Day Distribution in the summer of 2004 to deliver the music to independent music stores across the nation. The girls continued to sing at Women's events across the South and geared themselves up for the next record.

"Lovely Day"

In 2005 the girls started work again with Kenny Royster at Direct Imaging in Nashville. The recording was an eclectic mix of Southern Gospel and Contemporary Christian Music. Beloved showed with this record that they certainly do not follow trends. The group created their own unique sound and again proved to have a style of their own. This was never more evident than on their second album Lovely Day. The album was released in March 2006. One of the highlights of the album is "Heritage" which features a guest performance from gospel music legend Eva Mae LeFever. Even though the song never charted it still remains the most widely played single the group has ever released. The album also contained another highly successful song for the group. es' "This Woman's Work" remains the groups most downloaded song to date. In February 2007 the group hosted their very own Women's Conference in Norcross, GA. The first year was a success and the group made plans for another event. In June of that year Kim had her first child and Denise became a grandma!

"Wake The World"

At the end of 2007 the group began recording songs for their third album "Wake The World". The album was another progression forward with the groups sound. Leaving behind the Southern Gospel roots the trio went for a more contemporary sound. The album was completed in January 2008 and pre-sold exclusively to attendees of the 2nd annual Beloved Women's Retreat held at Lake Lanier Islands Resort in February 2008. ) produced single "Love God, Serve Others" was well received for a first single at radio and climbed its way into the Top 30. The group preceded the album release with a wide variety of TV and in-store appearances around the country to promote the release. The re-worked follow up single "God Knows Where You Are", which originally appeared on Kim's solo project "Heavenly Intuition", gave the group its highest charted song to date reaching all the way to #11 where it sat for three weeks. In 2009 Beloved hosted their third annual retreat entitled "I Dare You" in Duluth, GA. Kim had her second child (another boy) just days after the retreat. Later that year the group's song "The Way Home" was accepted as the title track for the movie "The Way Home
