. It has five major anchors and more than 170 stores and restaurants. It has 1,240,000 square feet (115,200 m²) of retail space, making it one of the largest shopping malls in Houston.

The mall was conceived in 1973 with construction completed in 1978. The first anchor tenants were Montgomery Ward, Sears and Joskes. Law/Kingdon was the original architect.

The facility has consistently upgraded its tenant base as many of the neighborhoods surrounding Baybrook, largely populated by employees from the NASA

Macy's built its store in 1985 and remained there until it was sold to Dillard's in 1997. Foley's

In February 1989 Baybrook Mall was 96% occupied, making it the mall with the second highest percentage of occupied space in the Houston area.
