History of Battleground

The name Battleground was derived from a battle

that took place along the Forrest Streight Trail during the Civil War.

One of the historical landmarks in Battleground is Battleground School. Built in 1932, the school was closed in the mid 1990s and has been undergoing restoration. Today, it is a community center that hosts numerous events and fundraisers, including gospel singings, car shows, monthly breakfasts and yard sales, neighborhood watch meetings and an annual Halloween carnival.

Battleground has one service station, Hilltop Grocery. Some of the other fibers of the community include Battleground Screen Printers, Macedonia Baptist Church, and Battleground Volunteer Fire Department.
