During the match, there were several protests made by the Spanish players about the Americans committing traveling many times that were not acted on by the referees. Per FIBA rules, the ball must reach the ground before the pivot foot once the player starts his movement. The NBA does not enforce this rule, and as a result NBA players are used to receive the ball, take three steps, and only then put it to the ground. As the game reached its end, Spain's Juan Carlos Navarro decided to mock this by intentionally committing traveling in clear sight of the referees.
