Political career

In 2006, Kvezereli was appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture. In 2007, he was promoted to the First Deputy, the position he held until 2008. In April 2008, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture by the President Mikheil Saakashvili. He's credited with reforms in different sub-sectors of Georgian agriculture

to Georgia. He was the one who started promotion of hi-breed seeds of corn and soya in Georgia. In 2009 he was rewarded with ordner of Honour by the President of Georgia for wine export diversification after Russian Embargo. In 2011 after resigning from the post of Minister of Agriculture Bakur Kvezereli was rewarded with The Presidential Order of Excellence by President Mikheil Saakashvili for the significant contribution in development of Georgian Agricultural sector and Agricultural export dynamic increase.
