The BLOHARDS are a New York City
based group which supports the Boston Red Sox
baseball team. The organization was formed in 1964 following a chance meeting on a New Haven Rail Road bar car between Henry Berry and Jim Powers, both native New Englanders living in Fairfield County, Connecticut
.
Berry died in 1996 and Powers in 2005, but the organization carries on. At present its activities include twice-yearly lunches at Manhattan
's Yale Club
when the Red Sox come to town to play the Yankees, a bus trip to Fenway park for each season's home opener, and occasional "viewing parties" of away games at local watering holes.
