Atlantica is a contemporary art and culture magazine produced by the Centro Atlántico de Arte de Moderno (CAAM) based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in between Europe, Americas and Africa.

History

Atlantica publishes its first issue in October 1990, in Spanish. With the change in management in 1992, it becomes a four-monthly bilingual (Spanish-English) magazine; grafic changes giving images a fundamental role. Another editorial turn happens with issue 40 (2004). «Atlantica» publishes regularly three issues every year.

Content

Since 1992 Atlantica publishes critical papers, reviews, conversations, interviews and artist projects. The vocation is interdisciplinary. Not only art but also sociology and philosophy, anytime these subjects allow to throw light on more recent and complex tendencies in the field of contemporary art.

Authors

Atlantica mostly addressed and gives voice to experts in contemporary arts and culture. It works in order to open up their horizons, hosting artists' speeches and theoretical observations across continents. The first three issues were written in collaboration with Nancy Davenport, Barbara Pollak, Arthur C. Danto, Carmela Garc ía, Shoja Azari, José Ferriera, Zwelethu Mthethwa and Penny Siopis. Starting from issue 40 (2004) the magazine is published by Ediciones del Umbral and directed by Alicia Chillida, Antonio Zaya e Octavio Zaya.
