Erez and his driver were gunned down 350-400 meters away from the Turkish Embassy. The ambassador was returning from a reception and as his vehicle was approaching the embassy, his chauffer, Talip Yener slowed the speed down. At this moment, a group of 3-4 armed Armenian terrorists ambushed the automobile shooting the ambassador Erez and his driver Yener dead. Both died at the scene.
