 (USA), where his father worked in a pencil factory earning eleven dollars a week, and his mother ran a small grocery shop. Anthony himself apprenticed as a shoemaker, until he started prize-fighting, calling himself Marty O'Brien, because Italians were not welcome in the fight game.

On Feb 14th 1914, Marty eloped with Natalie Della Garaventa (Aka "Dolly"), to Jersey City, where they married, as Dolly's parents would not give a wedding, and did not approve of Marty, because he couldn't read or write, and wasn't even a good boxer.

Together Marty, and Dolly moved into 415, Monroe St, Hoboken. It was here on the 12th December 1915, they had their only child, Francis Albert Sinatra.

Marty continued his Boxing Career, until he broke his wrists after 30 professional Fights, and then went to work on the docks, where he was dismissed due to his asthma. Out of a job, Dolly helped him find work, and he was appointed to Hoboken Fire Service in 1927, where he became the rank of Captain

, without having to sit any formal exams.

Still a captain in the Fire Brigade, Dolly and Marty opened up a tavern called 'Marty O'Brian's', and with enough income, the Sinatra family moved house to a three-bedroom apartment, only a few blocks away from Monroe St, but well out of the way of Little Italy.

Marty died of a heart attack on January 24, 1969 at 76 years of age, with his son Frank Sinatra
