Andrew was ranked in the top twenty swimmers in the World for over a decade and was the World Number One in 100 metre Butterfly short course in 1990. He was the first man in the Commonwealth to break the 50 second barrier for the 100m Freestyle.

Andrew was the Australian Team Captain in 1993 and 1994 (when Australia achieved one of its best pool performances at the Commonwealth Games in Canada) and the Australian Team Representative for over a decade. Andrew was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for this service to sport.

Andrew was the swimming commentator for FOX Sport at the 2000 Olympic Swimming Trials and Channel 7 Expert Swimming Commentator for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

) now operate Andrew Baildon's Superfish Swim Schools in Queensland Australia, specialising in "Learn to Swim" drowning prevention programs, endorsed by World Swimming Champion and dual Olympic Medallist Susie O'Neill and Australian Coach of the Year and Olympic Coach Denis Cotterell.

Andrew and his father Gary Baildon (former Mayor of the Gold Coast, Australia) were proud Sydney 2000 Olympic Torchbearers and Andrew was invited to light the Cauldron for the Gold Coast.
