The couple was arrested and charged with battery. Tomašević was sentenced to three months in jail while Sasso was given probation. The event sparked another controversy involving Sasso. Her former boyfriend, a Split-based businessman Miljenko Gusic accused Sasso through the newspaper of being a long time cocaine addict. Sasso denied all charges.

In the period between 2004-2007 Croatian media reported of Sasso being a long time cocaine addict. In 2006 she was involved in a bar brawl along with her boyfriend, a Split surgeon Hrvoje Tomašević.
