It was made a minor district (King Amphoe) on June 16 1977, when the two tambon Lan Krabue and Chong Lom were split off from Phran Kratai.

It was made a minor district (King Amphoe) on June 16 1977, when the two tambon Lan Krabue and Chong Lom were split off from Phran Kratai. It was upgraded to a full district on July 16 1984.
