Amon Miyamoto is a Japanese stage director and choreographer.

Biography

Beginning his career in theater as an actor and choreographer, Amon Miyamoto went to study in London and New York for two years. When he returned to Japan in 1987, he made his debut as a director with his original musical, "I Got Merman,” winning the National Arts Festival Prize, the most prestigious directing award in Japan.

In 2004 Miyamoto became the first Asian ever to direct a Broadway musical, "Pacific Overtures
