In 1944, the Red Skull
sends Lyle Dekker to America where he becomes an employee at Democracy Studios. The company is working on a movie about Captain America
. Dekker, in a special effects position, arranges several accidents in an attempt to discredit the movie. Ultimately, this plan failed. Dekker is tortured and nearly killed by the Red Skull in retaliation for this failure.
Dekker transfers his mind into the Ameridroid in modern times, allowing his own body to die. The android has the abilities of Captain America amplified in proportion to its size. Dekker is initially demoralized by his new nature, but is later brainwashed and serves the Red Skull in a campaign to discredit Captain America. The Ameridroid is ultimately killed while attempting to destroy the Red Skull.
In 2011 the character reappears during the inaugural storyline of Captain America (vol 6), written by Ed Brubaker
