 (MD) degree. The MD program at AUA is a 10 semester course of study. Semesters 1-4 are basic sciences semesters that are completed at the university's Antigua campus. Semester 5 is completed at one of the university's five locations in the United States. Semesters 6-10 consist of clinical rotations that are completed at AUA-affiliated hospitals in the United States. Base tuition for the School of Medicine in 2011 was $12,282 per semester.

School of Nursing

AUA's School of Nursing confers upon its graduates the Associate Degree in Nursing. The program takes place on the Antigua campus.

College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences

In August 2009, the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) of the American University of Antigua was founded. The CVMBS accepted its first students in January 2010 into a preclinical training program. The curriculum consists of five semesters of preclinical study, taught by a small permanent veterinary faculty and a rotational system of visiting faculty.

 graduates and current undergraduate students who do not have the necessary prerequisite courses to qualify for the MD program. Students who successfully complete the program earn either an Associate of Science degree in Health Sciences or a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Human Sciences and proceed into the MD program at the College of Medicine.

Accreditation and Licensing

The American University of Antigua operates under the laws of Antigua and Barbuda pursuant to its Charter which was issued by the Government in 2003 and revalidated in 2004.

AUA is approved by the medical boards of New York and California for clinical training, residency, and licensure.

Campus

In January 2010, AUA opened its doors to a new 17 acres (68,796.6 m²) campus. The $60 million facility houses over 75000 square feet (6,967.7 m²) of classrooms, a multi-story library, study rooms, and student government, and administrative and faculty offices.

In August 2011, AUA announced plans for an $18 million expansion of the Antigua campus.
