. It is a not-for-profit organization. It is recognized in France by the Ministry of Higher Education as a private institution of Higher Learning, and offers programs that are accredited in the United States.

AGS has a School of International Relations and Diplomacy and a School of Business and Economics. With these two schools, AGS offers American postgraduate degrees (Masters, Doctorate), European Masters and LL.M. degrees in partnership with French universities, executive programs, certificates, and study abroad in Paris.

The campus is located in Paris, in the Alliance Française Building, on the left bank of the Seine River, between the lively artist district of Montparnasse and the traditional student area of the Latin Quarter.

History

The American Graduate School in Paris was established in 1994 under the name American Graduate School of International Relations and Diplomacy. In 2009, it merged with the American Graduate School of Business and Economics, and changed its name to American Graduate School in Paris in order to accommodate these new disciplines. Both sets of disciplines remain as schools under the umbrella of AGS.

The faculty

The faculty of both schools (international relations and diplomacy; business and economics) are international. Its members come from the United States, Venezuela, India, Iran, Tunisia, Israel, France, Great-Britain, among other countries.
The faculty gathers accomplished scholars and practicing professionals (diplomats, lawyers, journalists, economists, business consultants).

Teaching methods

The teaching methods of the American Graduate School in Paris are based on the American system: student-professor interaction and dialogue, classroom debates, emphasis put on research. The School of International Relations requires a 25,000 to 35,000 word Master’s thesis for graduation. Both schools combine strong theoretical foundations with a practical approach.

The student body

Around 50 nationalities are represented in the student body and alumni of AGS. The school values cultural diversity and incorporates it into its program as one of the aspects of the international experience offered by the school. Debates are encouraged in class and the international profile of the student population allows to bring different perspectives into the debates.

The Alumni

Alumni of the School of International Relations and Diplomacy work in international organizations (intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations), government, diplomacy, international business, media, and academia.
Alumni of the School of Business and Economics work in international business, finance (corporate finance, investment and commercial banks, and other financial institutions), and in various branches of marketing (senior-level marketing and sales management, international market consulting, brand and product management, marketing communications).
