Romualdo was found dead in his home on 27 May 2008 in San Isidro District, Lima

. His niece, who reported the event on the radio, expressed concerns for the causes of his death, insinuating he could have been murdered. The state of the poet's room, however, would point to the fact that he died of natural causes. Investigations are under way.
