 and is under the ownership of Ecuador's fixed telephone operator Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (former Andinatel).

The company obtained a fifteen year advanced mobile service license in April 2003
and in December 2003 began operation in the country under its brand name Alegro PCS . It was announced on July 30, 2010 that the state-owned company Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones acquired Telecsa S.A. effectively making it property of the Ecuadorean government. It has been decided that the company will remain with its already-existing Alegro brand name.
