History

The school originally opened in 1936 in unincorporated Harris County off the corner of Aldine-Bender and Aldine-Westfield roads and was the first high school in the district. The first campus was known as Marrs High School after Starlin Marion Newberry Marrs, the state superintendent of public schools at the time. A new campus was built just north of Marrs on Aldine-Westfield in 1947. The name was changed to Aldine High School. This campus burned to the ground on Thanksgiving

 Eve in 1954. Classes were held at the original Marrs campus until a new school was built. Construction of the new Aldine High School was completed in 1956 on the site of the former Gulf Coast Airport. The remaining buildings of Marrs High School and the old Aldine High school would become part of today's Aldine Middle School.

The current school is located on Airline Drive in the Houston city limits, adjacent to Interstate 45

 next to West Road. Since 1956 several additions and renovations have taken place at the school. In 1970 new wings were added including more classrooms (including cosmetology and science labs), more restrooms, classrooms in the gym area and an expansion of the cafeteria. Air conditioning was also added to most of the school around this time. A new front entrance wing was added in 1973 which included new administrative offices, more restrooms, a band room and more classrooms. An expansion of the gym area (including a second smaller gym) was added in 1978. In 1997 another wing was added to the front left and right of the school to add additional classrooms. New locker rooms were also added. Several renovations on the older wings have also taken place over the years including a renovation of the cafeteria completed in 2009. In 1999, all of Aldine's ninth graders were moved to a new campus which is behind the main campus off Interstate 45. This was part of several efforts by the district to compensate for the areas rapid growth.
