. It specialises in sports. In 2009 its overall effectiveness was rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. Its head teacher was Cheryl Crawford, who was head until 1999 when John Platten took over. He then left to go to another school, so his deputy, Nigel Youngman temporarily took his place. He left as well, so a new head, Alastair Ogle, was appointed for the start of September 2010. The current leadership team includes Alastair Ogle as head teacher, Barnaby Rimmer as deputy head, and Sara Watkins and Balbinder Tawana as assistant heads. The school is one of the smallest secondary schools in England.
