He is honorary doctor of the Jagiellonian University of Cracow (1991), of the Univeridad Peruana Los Andes of Huancayo (1996), and of Waseda University of Tokyo (2001), has received the university medal of the Warsaw University (2000), is honorary member of the Hungarian Academy of Science of Budapest (1993) and the Japanese Society for Criminal Law (1992).
