- Governor: Shaykh Hamid al-Khudari
- Deputy Governor: Diaa Abdulkarim
- Provincial Council Chairman (PCC): Sheikh Hussein al-Khaldi
History
The Governorate is named for the historic town of Al-Qadisiyyah, site of the Battle of al-Qadisiyyah, where in 636 CE the Caliph Umar defeated the forces of the Persian Sassanid Empire, bringing Islam to all of modern Iraq and Iran.
Al-Qadisiyah became the 10th of Iraq's 18 provinces to reach PIC on 16 July 2008. In so doing, it reverted to its former name of Al-Diwaniyah.
