It was opened on June 18, 1988. Since all trains are northbound from here, the island platform is set up such that the "southbound" side is for Doraville trains and the "northbound" side is for North Springs trains. This is the third busiest railway station on the MARTA system, after Five Points and Lindbergh, which are currently the only two transfer stations of the MARTA system.
