. His mother was a working singer-songwriter, and his parents ran a second-hand store. His father bought him his first guitar when Knight was about 15 years old. He performed his first show at age 16, with his mother opening for him.

Knight helped establish the record label Adventure Boys Club, with founder Tyler Bancroft of the band Said the Whale
. Its first release was Knight's debut album, Versicolour
, on March 2, 2010. Previous digital EPs include Hi There and First Takes, a collection of demos and field recordings from 2007–2008. Versicolour was recorded in Langley, B. C.
over the course of two years with producer Jonathan Anderson.
On November 30, 2010, Aidan Knight released a tour-only 7" Friendly Fires b/w Lambics which included the new lineup of David Barry (guitar/percussion), Colin Nealis (viola/bass), and Olivier Clements (Wurlitzer/flugelhorn) formerly of Toronto's The O' Darling and Julia Wakal (flugelhorn/keyboard). As of August 1, 2011, Knight has been working on a follow-up on Protection Island with Jonathan Anderson once again.
