via its website. The station originally launched as an online
radio station called 'Cambridge City Radio' and later rebranded as 'Affinity' after gaining a licence to launch on DAB Digital Radio. Local stations in the UK provide a social gain to the region they serve. Affinity offers more than 70 hours a week of live programming.
Affinity Radio is also the first ever full-service DAB local station in England.
2010 - February
2011. Cambridge City Radio as it was then known showcased specialist music in the evening and magazine style programmes during the daytime.
In March 2011
, the station staged a Restricted Service Licence
on 87.7 FM in Cambridge. The name of the station was adjusted due to their imminent launch on DAB Digital Radio.
On 12 April 2011 the station started broadcasting dynamic DAB
DLS digital scrolling text, using UBC Media's Unique Interactive, ManDLS system.
On 16 July 2011 Affinity celebrated 100 days on their air. Within this time the station has showcased many interviews including the Cambridge MP Julian Huppert, 80s singer and music producer Nik Kershaw
and new upcoming group, the Reason 4.
On 10 November 2011, Affinity Radio's DAB Service label changes from 'Affinity_Cambs__' to 'Affinity_Radio___' with a new programme type (PTY) of 'Pop Music'.
Affinity Radio 'flipped' their music format from full Variety Hits, to the Hot AC music format during their daytime and overnight hours, appealing to 25-54 year olds in the City.
