As a junior in 2003, Awasom totaled 44 tackles, including seven tackles for losses and four sacks, in 12 games and recorded a career-best eight sacks as a sophomore in 2002. He finished senior season in 2004 with 52 tackles, including 13 for losses and team-leading six sacks for 23 yards. Awasom finished his career at the University of North Texas
