He was perhaps a bit of a surprise package when signed by Doncaster at the beginning of the 2006/2007 season. ), he has managed to become arguably the best of the season's signings. He is a regular first team player when fit and has formed an integral part of the Rovers defence. He usually plays centre back, but can play as right back when required.

Lockwood committed his future to the club by signing a 2-year extension to his contract at Rovers in the summer of 2010.
