Jason Birchmeier of Allmusic gave the album positive who felt that "there's nothing extravagant here", he stated that "every song is interesting from one standpoint or another." David Wilson of Wilson & Alroy's gave the album a mixed review criticizing the lack of originality calling and comment Son de Guerra "sounds more usual than usual".
