The three main ideas behind the 100 Days campaign were as follows:
  • The planned date and closure of Guantanamo Bay;
  • The issuance of an executive order banning torture and other ill-treatment, as defined under international law;
  • To ensure that an independent commission to investigate abuses committed by the U.S. government in its "war on terror

These demands are part of a checklist of actions Amnesty International has asked the new U.S. President to take during the first 100 days in office.

As part of the 100 Days Campaign, to remind President Obama of his promise to close Guantanamo bay, Amnesty International held a series of vigils from 11 am to 1 pm, Monday through Friday, at many different venues around D.C., throughout the first 100 days of President Obama's first term of presidency.
