What is life like in a public (or private) middle school or highschool?

Most children in Roman times never went to any lessons at all. Learning a trade for boys was valued, girls to tend to matters of hearth and home.Yet, some tutors did teach children,more so the upper class, subjects like Latin,Greek, math,finally,poetry and history. So tutoring would have been very small group style,easier for those children who were learning to learn well.
